about us

Morris Brothers Musical Store is located in Stafford, Brisbane. As a family-owned business with some great staff there are a few things that make us unique compared to other music stores.

1. A Heritage of Passion

Morris Brothers Musical Store is a Brisbane music store, operated by the 2 sons and granddaughter of John Morris, the original founder of Queensland’s most famous music store, Australian Academy of Music in 1967, continuing the proud family heritage and passion for involving people of all ages in music, all proudly born and living in Brisbane.

2. Awards & Accolades

Morris Brothers Musical Store has won awards and accolades including best specialty retailer in the Business Achiever awards, voted by our wonderful supportive customers.

3. Lowest cost school band instrument rental in QLD

With a family heritage of making music affordable for families, you have a Brisbane music store that proudly offers you the lowest cost school band instrument rental in Queensland.

4. Experienced Staff

At Morris Brothers, you deal with staff who are teachers, tuners, repairers and musicians, rather than slick commissioned sales staff, so the advice you get is based on genuine experience.

5. We love making music

Between our staff, we play piano, keyboard, guitar, bass, flute, saxophone, clarinet, trumpet, ukulele and harmonica – it’s nice to talk to someone who shares your musical interests.

6. Great service

We have onsite, a piano and brass repair workshop, and as a service-based business, offer free restringing of violins (strings purchased from MB), removal of stuck mouthpieces, teacher referral service and other free benefits.

7. Giving back

Each year we donate musical goods to many of our local schools for fetes, events, raffles to assist them in raising funds for their music programs.

8. Making music easy and affordable

As part of our ‘making music easy and affordable’ philosophy, we specialise in both pre-loved (hand selected by our experts) and ex-rental musical instruments, at much reduced prices.
